Luscious Living Rooms

Professional Hardwoods:
Luscious Living Rooms
It is the holiday season, and aside from your kitchen, your living room will be the prime spot for entertaining! Though it may be cold outside, bring in the warmth of some beautiful hardwood floors and your guests will be more than impressed! Below are a few of my favorite design inspirations that center around hardwoods.

LIGHT AND BRIGHT:
I love this design. The dark floors with a printed area rug give the room texture and warmth. The yellow walls bring out the highlights in the wood and the accessories pair well with the rug making it comfortable and stylish.

THE MODERN MAKEOVER:

I normally post pictures I find of the finished product. I came across this great example of how dark and uninviting a room can look with old outdated carpet. Here are the before and afters!
Before:
I love the beams across the ceiling, but they look dated with the sponge painted walls and burgundy carpet. The room definitely needs a face lift! And with such huge windows, where is all the light going? The dark carpet seems to soak up all the light and keep the room dark.
After:
The bright paint on the walls and the shiny new wood floors give this room a breath of fresh air! A printed area rug pairs well with the floors and offers comfort and style. Imagine this design with the burgundy carpet still on the floor. The design will be completely different, and not too pleasant to look at! This goes to show just how well wood floors pair with any design.

CLASSIC COUNTRY COMFORT:

When I imagine a snow covered mountain resort, this picture comes to mind! The natural stones and wood floors give the room an earthy and warm feeling. The use of the rugs add to the lodge feel. However, once again, picture this room with carpet. The natural earthy essence is completely lost! Hardwoods are made to last, and have never gone out of style. Do yourself a favor this year and go all natural with some beautiful hardwoods just like these. Your holiday guests will be more than impressed.

Captivating Kitchens

Professional Hardwoods:

Captivating Kitchens
Whether you're looking for a classic country kitchen or for modern clean lines, hardwood floors are the first step! Softer than tiles and easier to clean, hardwoods are the biggest trend of the year and becoming even more popular by the second. I will be highlighting a few of my favorite kitchen designs this week and how hardwood floors play a key role in the design of the new kitchen you want for your home!

THE WHITE COUNTRY KITCHEN:

This is my first choice of a kitchen design. The key here is contrast! These beautiful wide plank antique brown hardwood floors pair well with the white cabinets. The kitchen is light and airy and the floors are highlighted when paired with the white finish on the cabinets. The designers have added a few pops of color with their accessories to finish off the design. But, the element that catches my eye first is of course the beautiful flooring!

THE MODERN BLACK AND GREY:
I have chosen this modern style black and grey kitchen as my next inspiration. The reason for my choice is to show how well the same floor works with a completely different color scheme. So, for those of you who like to repaint often, hardwoods are for you! The black cabinets pull out the darker tones in the wood floors bringing a sense of warmth into the kitchen. Modern fixtures and stainless steel appliances set this design above the rest. However, it is the beautiful dark wood floors that hold the design together.

THE HIGH CEILING CUISINE:
The design of this kitchen relies on the beautiful light wide plank floors. A dark bold color has been chosen for the ceiling. The reason this design works is the contrast of light and dark. The designer has also used different textures to create comfort within the space. A small area rug has been placed in the seating area that brings out the dark knots of the flooring. And, with the large windows on the back wall, the floors are bright and make the room look even bigger!
